Not only is it an opportunity to capture beautiful images to enjoy for years to come, but it can also be an adventure of sorts – a new scenic spot you may not have been to before that you get to to explore. Once the session begins, there’s often a sense of excitement and anticipation as everyone comes together to create fun, real images of it all.

Getting ready for your portrait session can help ensure that you look and feel your best, which ultimately leads to better photos. Here are some tips to help you get ready for your session:
- Plan your outfits: Choose clothes that make you feel comfortable and confident. For family portraits, it’s a good idea to coordinate outfits with the other people who may be in the photos too, but avoid being too matchy-matchy.
- Consider hair and makeup: Think about how you want to style your hair and do your makeup for the photo session. You may even consider hiring a professional hair and makeup artist to help you achieve the look you want.
- Get plenty of rest: Being well-rested can absolutely help you look and feel your best, so make sure to get a good night’s sleep before your session.
- Stay hydrated: Drinking plenty of water leading up to your portrait session can help your skin look its best.
- Relax and have fun: Remember that portrait sessions can definitely be fun and enjoyable. I’ll bring a lighthearted personality to the session to keep things upbeat and moving.

Looking for a location for the session?
Here are several different places for family photos near Redlands that I recommend:
- Prospect Park: This park features a variety of different types of beautiful greenery, making it a very popular spot for family portraits.
- The University of Redlands: The campus of the university has beautiful buildings and gardens that make for great backdrop for your photos.
- Downtown Redlands: The historic downtown area of Redlands has charming architecture and colorful murals that make for a small town, urban vibe for your session.
- Oakmont Park: This park is a little more out of the way, hidden near the top of Redlands actually, but has lots of rolling scenery and stunning oak trees as the name suggests.
- Carolyn Park: Smaller, also near the top of Redlands, but has amazing views of the local mountains at sunset time.
- Wildwood Canyon Park: A state park located nearby in Yucaipa, it also has oak trees and some old structures that give variety to the scenes.
- Big Bear Lake: Definitely a drive, but so worth it! Lots of different options for beautiful locations, in the trees, by the lake, and it’s always cooler up there.
- WILDCARD SPOT: Joshua Tree National Park: A uniquely different location that is hauntingly beautiful and temperate in the Spring & Fall.

A lifestyle session is a relaxed portrait of your life, taken from a fun & down-to-earth perspective. Contemporary and light-hearted – just like you. Let us help share your story with family & friends! Sessions can happen at your home, a nearby park, favorite hangout, or other scenic location. The lifestyle portraits can be used for big family portraits, individuals, “baby bump” sessions, and are a great option for senior photos for your graduate too.
You’ll get to see your images and share them online if you’d like. Prints, canvas and display books are available to show off your photos.

Signature Portrait Session

The ultimate Senior Photo experience! This session includes multiple locations and looks. Time for regular portraits, plus additional opportunity for concept shoots, cars, sports, or evening shooting. We recommend this session for those who want lots of variety, an extra-large group for family portraits, have an out-of-the-way location in mind, or are interested in doing creative lighting shots at dusk or at night.

Business Branding Session

We’ll collaborate on your vision for the session, your brand, creating a personalized shot-list, and making sure you end up with photos that serve a real purpose for your business.
